The Caloocan City government conducted the Anti-Urban Blight (AUB) activities in partnership with Meralco on Thursday, August 22 at Katarungan Street, Barangay 149 Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City.

The activity aims to clear low-hanging electrical wires and remove illegal electrical connections in the barangay.

“Muli po tayong nagpapasalamat sa Meralco sa pagtulong sa pamahalaang lungsod na panatilihin ang kaligtasan ng mga mamamayan. Kasabay ng pag-aalis ng mga ilegal at buhol-buhol na koneksyon sa mga poste, mas ligtas din ang barangay sa mga aksidenteng makuryente ang mga dumadaan o sa mga kislap na maaaring maging mitsa ng sunog (Once again we thank Meralco for helping the city government to maintain the safety of the citizens. Along with the elimination of illegal and tangled pole connections, the barangay is also safer from accidents that electrocute passers-by or from sparks that can ignite fires),” Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan said.

He reminded residents to avoid electrical repairs, and illegal connections to power poles to avoid any untoward incident.

“Paalala lang po sa mga Batang Kankaloo, itawag po kaagad sa kinauukulan kung mayroon kayong isyu sa inyong kuryente. Huwag po tayong basta-basta mag-ayos o magkabit ng kahit anong linya ng kuryente lalo na sa mga poste dahil bukod po sa ilegal ito, maaari pa ninyo itong ikapahamak (Just a reminder to Batang Kankaloo, please call the appropriate person immediately if you have an issue with your electricity. Let's not simply repair or install any power line, especially on poles, because apart from being illegal, you can also damage it),” Malapitan said.
