BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office has directed all 10 police stations and investigative units to prioritize the resolution of murder and other significant cases here in response to the growing need for justice and the relentless pursuit of the perpetrators.

A total of 11 murder cases were recorded by the BCPO from January to July this year.
These cases were the deaths of John Paul Montaño and Christopher Mondejar in Barangay Alijis on January 25; Jefferson Diane in Barangay 2 on February 8; another victim in Barangay 2 on February 13; a call center agent in Barangay Taculing on February 24; Benjoe San Jose in Barangay 2 on March 24; Babes Gonzales in Barangay 14 on April 29;
Benjie Fajardo in Barangay 37 on June 1; Niño Baldevia in Barangay Taculing on July 10; Joemarie Villapaña in Barangay 2 on July 11; a 12-year-old boy in Barangay 12 on July 13, and Gregg Alvin Gelito in Barangay Sum-ag on July 16.
According to the BCPO, nine of these cases already have motives and they have identified persons of interest but their families have executed an affidavit of non-interest.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, BCPO officer-in-charge, vowed to intensify their efforts to resolve unsolved murder cases that have concerned the community here.
Coronica called on the public to assist their efforts by coming forward with any information would solving these cases as they remain resolute in their mission to deliver justice to all affected families.
The BCPO directed police stations to resolve cases such as rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, motorcycle and motor vehicle theft.
Mayor Albee Benitez here has offered a cash reward of P20,000 to P50,000 to individuals who could help the police in solving these cases.
Witnesses, particularly civilians, will be eligible for the reward based on the gravity of the testimonies, and will be distributed equally for multiple witnesses, according to the BCPO.
Anonymous tips will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, the BCPO said.
