CEBU CITY – Police seized suspected shabu valued at more than P10 million in a two-day operation in Central Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that 1.5 kilos of shabu were seized and 43 suspected drug pushers were arrested from August 22 to 23.
In the seven operations against loose firearms, two persons were arrested and seven unlicensed guns were confiscated.
The PRO-7 said that 43 persons were also apprehended for illegal gambling.
Eight most wanted persons and 26 other wanted persons were caught.
The P10-million drug haul came after the PRO-7 seized suspected shabu worth P4 million from August 19 to 21.
Police Brig. Gen. Athony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, said the series of police operations were part of the security preparations for the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo festival on Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Cebu City Sports Center.
“These operations were intentionally launched to pave the way for a secure landscape for the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024,” Aberin said.
The festival will be participated by 51 contingents representing the various towns and cities of Cebu province.
Aberin assured that security measures are already in place for the festival with close to 2,000 security personnel to be deployed to secure the event.
Police are also securing key spots in the region due to the long weekend culminating with the National Heroes’ Day on Monday, August 26.
