Celebs support 'And So It Begins'

Celebrities took to their social media accounts to support the showing of "And So It Begins" which opened in Philippine theaters last Aug. 21. 

"And So It Begins", written, produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker Ramona Diaz, takes viewers on a journey leading up to the May 2022 presidential elections in the Philippines. The documentary features presidential candidates Vice-President Atty. Leni Robredo and former Senator Bongbong Marcos, and Rappler news organization's and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa. The film tackles how a hopeful people's movement was born while fake news threatened our democratic society.

Actress Pinky Amador shared a photo of herself beside the "And So It Begins" standee, while actor Jake Ejercito posted a photo of him and his daughter Elle standing in front of the movie poster.

Content creators / social media personalities Nico Quejano, Inah Evans and Niño San Jose shared their reactions on the film. Inah Evans said that the opening scenes of footage of the crowds at the Leni Robredo rallies got her immediately teary-eyed. "This is a film for every Filipino because it is our reality," the cast member of GMA's top-rating TV show "Black Rider" reiterated. 

Lawyer Nico Quejano posted that he had "never seen/ heard that many people crying inside the cinema since (the box-office Thai hit) 'How to Make Millions Before Grandmother Dies'." 

Likewise, box-office and award-winning director Antoinette Jadaone posted the following on her X account, "Napanood ko na And So It Begins. Mas marami pa akong iniyak dito kaysa sa How to Make Millions!!!!!!!!!!! Hooooooooo". 

Niño San Jose gave the film a heart sign and three crying emojis as his instant review. 

"And So It Begins" is now showing in cinemas; official cinema venue partners for the regular commercial run are: Cinema 76 in Tomas Morato Quezon City, Fisher Mall Malabon, Fisher Mall Quezon City, Gateway Cineplex, Powerplant Makati, Shang Red Carpet Cinema in Mandaluyong, Sta. Lucia Mall Cainta, NCCC Davao, and Screenville Alturas Bohol.

Aside from the regular screenings, block screenings throughout the country have been held (and continue to be held) by volunteer organizations; plentry of these have been sold-out events. On its Facebook page, distributor Solar Pictures has compiled an album of the sold-out block screenings and posted a message of thanks that said, "Pasasalamat sa mga tumangkilik at nag-organize ng mga block screenings ng #AndSoItBegins. 

"MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT sa aming mga OVP (Official Venue Partners) at mga block screening organizers na nagbigay ng daan upang mapanood ang ASIB. Nawa'y dumami pa ang makanood ng #AndSoItBeginsPH.
