Septuagenarian arrested for rape in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested on Tuesday, August 20, a 73-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor here.

The Baguio City Police Office said the suspect was the eighth top most wanted person in this city.

The suspect was arrested on a warrant for statutory rape. No bail was set for the suspect.

The victim said that she was raped last January and was encouraged by her grandmother to report the incident to the police amid threats from the suspect.

Police have contacted the City Social Welfare and Development Office to ensure that the victim receives counseling and assistance to speed up her recovery.
