Manila Water adds over 14,00 new connections in first half

East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc. said it has added over 14,000 new water service connections in the first half of the year to expand its water services in its franchise area.

In a statement, Manila Water reported that it installed 14,125 new water connections from January to June of this year. Of that total, 13,684 were domestic, while 442 were industrial and commercial.

This increased Manila Water’s total water service connections in the East Zone to more than 1.18 million as of the end of June 2024, serving a customer base of 7.7 million.

Meanwhile, Manila Water also reported 4,172 new sewer connections for the first half of the year, increasing its total sewer service connections to 297,768.

The company added that the East Zone concessionaire has continuously met the strict standards set by the Department of Health for drinking water.

According to the conducted tests, the samples gathered from the specified regulatory sampling points adhered 100 percent to the total coliform requirements and generally adhered to the physical and chemical standards for water.

In June, Manila Water conducted 8,742 water samplings, exceeding the required 7,804.

“As we are committed to expanding our reach to provide 24/7 potable water to our growing customer base, we are also investing heavily in our wastewater service,” Manila Water’s Corporate Communication Affairs Group Director Jeric Sevilla said.

“Having sewer lines, as well as availing our desludging services, will ensure the proper treatment of wastewater, thus protecting our waterways,” he added.
