'Lolo and the Kid' director Benedict Mique reacts to alleged sexual assault case of colleagues

Benedict Mique, director of the hit Filipino movie "Lolo and the Kid" currently available on Netflix, expressed his sadness for his colleagues involved in a recent sexual harassment case.

"It's sad that it's happening to our colleagues. I have known them for a long time. Mga writers din sila. Sadly, my colleagues are in that situation," said Mique during an interview for his upcoming movie "Maple Leaf Dreams" at 77 Limbaga Restaurant in Morato, Quezon City on Aug. 21.

Mique reacted to a case involving Sparkle artist Sandro Muhlach, who accused Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz of sexual assault.

"I don't want to pass judgment kung guilty ba sila or hindi. Sana makikilala yung mga writer sa magandang paraan hindi sa mga ganung sitwasyon. Nakakalungkot," he said.

Mique added: "But we have to be accountable for our actions kung totoo man kasi I don't think it's an isolated case.

"There are many cases in the past na ganyan. So nakaha-awa rin yung ibang nagtatrabaho. Hindi lang naman sa artista nangyayari yan kundi sa mga staff din.
