Consumers today are lucky to have a wide selection of devices they can use for various tasks, whether for productivity or recreation. Smartphones can do many things regardless of time and place but have limitations because of their small screen sizes. Laptops are geared toward work because of their large screen sizes and processing power but are cumbersome for some. Straddling the line between smartphones and laptops, tablets seemingly set the balance between the two device categories. This review takes a closer look at the TechLife Pad tablet.

Sporting a 10.36-inch touchscreen display, the TechLife Pad has a 2K resolution at 1200 × 2000p and a maximum brightness of 450 nits. With these characteristics, the TechLife Pad offers a satisfactory view of content that may be a webpage, video, photo, or document. The tablet display is supported by a metallic body (90% aluminum with acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic). Measuring 7.4mm thin and weighing 453g, the TechLife Pad is easy to carry. Available in two color variants (Graphite Blue and Graphite Grey), the tablet softly glistens when light touches it.

Within its slim body, the TechLife Pad is powered by a Unisoc T606 octa-core processor, which supports LTE and VoLTE. That said, the tablet has a SIM slot, allowing users to use mobile data to connect online when a Wi-Fi connection is unavailable and use it as a phone if needed. The octa-core processor is supported by up to 8GB RAM (4GB of the 128GB onboard storage is used as virtual RAM) for smoother handling of applications. With the default onboard storage, the TechLife Pad can store up to 25,000+ photos or songs, or 30+ mobile gaming apps. If still not enough, the onboard storage can be expanded via microSD (supports up to 1TB), allowing the tablet to carry more files and applications. To facilitate faster performance, the TechLife Pad is preinstalled with a stock version of Android 14. The tablet scored 267999 in AnTuTu Benchmark.

Because it is expected to play video content, the TechLife Pad is equipped with quad stereo speakers. The tablet has two speakers on each side for more immersive sound at loud volume levels. However, those who prefer using a personal audio device (headphones or earphones), can use the tablet's 3.5mm audio jack or Bluetooth 5.0 connection, which is faster than the previous generation Bluetooth 4.0 standard. The Bluetooth connection also becomes useful when you attach the tablet to a Bluetooth keyboard with a stand, which converts the device into an instant laptop. You may add a wireless mouse to the mix if needed.

The TechLife Pad incorporates a 7000mAh battery that can be recharged through the USB-C port. This port supports 10W charging, which is faster than the traditional 5W charging. The battery can last up to 15 hours in standby mode. Imaging-wise, the TechLife Pad has an 8MP main camera with a flash and a 5MP front camera. The cameras are primarily intended for capturing notes or documents and taking video calls.

With these features and capabilities, the TechLife Pad seemingly meets the needs and wants of consumers who prefer a mobile device with a larger screen than a smartphone but not as hefty as a laptop. Just in time for the opening of the new school year, the TechLife Pad can be a dependable buddy for students or budget-conscious content consumers, considering its relatively affordable price of ₱8,999.
