PRO-13 nets 55 illegal gamblers

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested 55 individuals for illegal gambling in the Caraga region from August 1 to 21.

Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro said 22 were caught by the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office, 14 by the Surigao del Sur PPO, 13 by the Agusan del Norte PPO, and six by the Regional Intelligence Division 13.

The suspects were playing swertres, Last 2 and 3, cockfighting, and card games.

Seized from them were playing cards, fighting cocks, and P29,730 in bet money.

Suspects were charged for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling before the prosecutor’s offices, Nazarro said.

“Our full-scale operations against illegal gambling continue without letup to bring the violators behind bars," he said.
