The councilor took to social media to share her sentiments regarding netizens who questioned her for promoting her ongoing show "Pulang Araw” while distributing vegetables to residents.

In one post on X (formerly Twitter), a netizen posted a video with the caption, “Kakapiranggot lang na gulay tapos gusto mo manood ng Pulang Bangaw? Grabe na ang pagka-desperada mo gurl (Just a tiny bit of vegetables, and you want to watch 'Pulang Araw?' Wow, you're really desperate, girl).”

Another user shared the post and captioned it, "JUST INday Badiday: 'Pulang Araw,' namigay ng limang pirasong sitaw mapanood lang. Yes po, lima po, nabilang ng SVG at Nielsen…CHARitable! (Pulang Araw gave away five pieces of string beans just to be watched. Yes, five pieces, they were counted by SVG and Nielsen…).”

The councilor promptly replied to netizens, stating that she does it annually as her way of giving back to her constituents in her own way.

“Hi. I do my yearly birthday community pantry as a way of giving back and being grateful to my constituents. Personal ko po ito (It's my personal initiative),” she captioned.

“Nahiya naman ako na hindi ito sapat para sayo. Pero I guess hindi ka naman taga-Pasig. I will promote Pulang Araw because I am proud of our show (I feel embarrassed that this isn't enough for you. But I guess you're not from Pasig. I will promote Pulang Araw because I am proud of our show),” she added.

De Leon also mentioned that aside from string beans and other vegetables, they also give calabash (bottle gourd), which they cut in half to make sure that everyone can get some.

“Meron pa hong putol na upo kasi hindi ko kaya magbigay ng buo. Pinuputol namin para meron ang lahat. May talong, ampalaya, at okra din (There's also a cut-up bottle gourd because I can't afford to give a whole one. We cut them so that everyone can have some. We also have eggplant, bitter melon, and okra),” she said.

She also stated that vegetables are so expensive nowadays, saying, “Ang mahal na pala talaga ng gulay ngayon. Hindi talaga aabot ang 64 pesos sa isang masustansyang meal per day (Vegetables are really expensive now. P64 truly won't be enough for a nutritious meal per day),” seemingly taking a jab at the National Economic and Development Authority's (NEDA) claim that a P64 daily food budget does not make a person "food poor.”
