Gov. Aris Aumentado handed over P40,000 to Irene Lasco, whose husband and two children died in the fire.
The incident happened last Wednesday night, August 14.
Irene’s husband, Edgardo Sr., four-year-old daughter Jessabelle, and one-year-old son Edgardo Jr. died in the fire.
The two children were asleep when their house that was made of light materials caught fire. Edgardo Sr. tried to rescue his two children but failed as the fire spread rapidly.
Edgardo Sr. sustained severe burns during the rescue attempt. He died while being treated in a hospital three days later.
Irene, who was working in Manila, arrived on the day that her husband died.
Aumentado said a separate P10,000 cash assistance was given to the owner of a vulcanizing shop that was also razed by the fire. A neighbor of the Lascos also received P10,000 after his house was also destroyed.
Canned goods and non-food items were given to affected families.
“It is our hope that our fellow Boholanos who were affected by the tragic incident will be able to move on. Let us stay strong in the face of these challenges,” said Aumentado.
