Abangan! VP Sara says her next book will be about a friend’s betrayal


Fresh from the controversies surrounding her first self-authored book, Vice President Sara Duterte said that she’s planning to write another book about a friend’s betrayal.

In a statement released Wednesday night, Aug. 21, denying allegations of plagiarism in her book, “Isang Kaibigan,” the official revealed she has plans to write another one.
 

“Abangan ninyo ang susunod kong isusulat na libro tungkol sa pagtataksil ng isang kaibigan (Watch out for my next book about the betrayal of a friend),” she said, adding that the problem was not her book, but the state of readership among the country’s youth.
 

Her book became the subject of inquiry by opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros because of the P10-million allocation for its publication and distribution includes in the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) proposed 2025 budget.
 

The book, which tells the story of Kwago (Owl), whose home and possessions were destroyed by a storm.
 

All of his friends left him, except for one, Loro (Parrot), who gave him shelter and helped rebuild his nest.
 

The author’s page showed Duterte’s photo along with her elective positions. It ends with the line, “Siya ay isang tunay na kaibigan (She is a true friend).”
 

The Vice President, who ran with President Marcos in the 2022 UniTeam tandem, resigned from the Cabinet in July and has since criticized the Marcos administration’s shortcomings.
 

She also accused that the Duterte family is the subject of political harassment as there were even plans to impeach her and bring her family down.
