21-year-old woman arrested for shoplifting inside Manila mall

A 21-year-old woman was arrested for stealing clothes inside a mall in Ermita, Manila on Wednesday, August 21.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Jia Francis Libutan, a resident of Barangay Sta. Lucia, Pasig City.

According to the police report, the security guard of the store saw the suspect immediately walking towards the store exit after getting several clothes and putting them inside her bag.

When the suspect crossed the sensor gate, its alarm went off, prompting the guard to hold the suspect and bring her to the sales ladies on duty.

The suspect was asked to open her bag where the authorities saw three stolen clothes.

Police said the suspect was not able to present them any receipt of the items.

The staff of the store said the stolen items were worth P3,170.

The suspect faces theft charges, the MPD Lawton precinct said.
