'Walang nag-iimbita': Erwin Tulfo identifies hurdles to potential Senate run

ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo has repeatedly claimed that he has no desire to run for senator in the upcoming May 2025 mid-term elections. 

Apparently desire is not the only thing Tulfo lacks in order for him to launch a successful senatorial campaign; he said he also doesn't have the needed resources and logistical back-up. 

"it's really a lifetime decision if you're going to run for Senate...I haven't made any decision," Tulfo said in a press conference Tuesday, Aug. 20. 

According to the popular broadcast journalist-turned-congressman, nobody has invited him to join any senatorial slate, at least so far. 

"Kaya sinasabi ko (That's what I'm saying), a lot of things...family, friends, you have to consult. Tapos anong alyansa, anong political party ka (What alliance will you join, what political party will carry you), you need somebody to back you up," Tulfo said. 

The financial aspect will also be a huge stumbling block, said the deputy majority leader for communications. 

"Even [If] my family put together, we don't have the resources," Tulfo said. "It needs a lot of resources."

Tulfo has consistently been the topnotcher in popularity surveys on potential senatorial candidates. 

Despite this, he insists that a senatorial run is the farthest on his mind. 

"I'm enjoying what I'm doing. That was my response before. I like what I'm doing.
It's basically the same, Senate, [House]. Then there's still a lot of things I have to learn before probably looking up or looking at the future," he said.
