Benitez said that the cash reward will come out from his own personal pocket.
“If there’s a recommendation to increase the reward, I will consider it,” Benitez said, adding that he will wait for the proposal of Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Benitez said that he recently met the mother of the 15-year-old victim at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) and assured her that they will do everything to apprehend the person responsible for the crime.
The teenage student was reported missing in this city on July 30, a day after she failed to return home on July 29.
She was found dead two weeks later in a sugarcane field in Barangay Cubay on August 14.
Benitez said that he is also awaiting the result of the investigation and assured that they will extend all the support needed by the La Carlota police to solve the case.
“We are prepared to give the assistance needed to find a resolution on this case,” he added.
