2 dead from toxic chemicals in gasoline station

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two persons died and another is in critical condition after inhaling toxic chemicals in a gasoline station in Barangay Curuan here on Wednesday, August 21.

Police identified the fatalities as Joel Dungog, 34, and Jomar Cagit, 30.

A co-worker, 23-year-old Jonas Calderon, was taken to a hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.

Investigation said that the victims were conducting maintenance work on a gasoline tanker when Calderon accidentally fell inside.

Dungog and Cagit rushed to help Jonas but also fell and trapped.

People in the area worked together to recover the victims.

The victims were taken to a hospital where Cagit and Dungog were declared dead.
