While Vice President Sara Duterte appears 100 percent convinced that the House of Representatives plans to get her impeached, an actual member of the chamber--ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo--has zero clues as to what she's talking about.
Tulfo, the deputy majority leader for communications, said on Tuesday, Aug. 20 that Speaker Martin Romualdez himself told him that there were no such plans to unseat the Vice President.
"I can categorically say, and it was repeated to me by the Speaker this afternoon…there is none,” Tulfo said.
Earlier that day, Vice President Duterte held a press conference at the Senate wherein she once again claimed that the House--led by Romualdez--wanted her impeached.
Incidentally, Romualdez, president of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), attended a meeting in Malacañang on Monday night with fellow top officials of major political parties. Some of the participants were House members.
But Tulfo said the Palace meeting wasn't about her; it was for the purpose of forming the administration's Senate slate for the upcoming mid-term elections.
"The meeting last night of the House leaders is all about the line-up of the administration’s bet[s] for the 2025 senatorial elections. So, wala po talaga (So there's really no plan to impeach),” added the ACT-CIS Party-list congressman.
Vice President Duterte, who had been a member of the Marcos Cabinet until July 19, claimed that members of the House of Representatives were discussing the plan to remove her from office.

“Meron pa naman kaming mga kaibigan sa loob e na hindi lang nagsasalita dahil takot daw sila. Sinasabi nila, it’s openly discussed, yung impeachment,” she told Senate reporters.
(We still have friends from the inside who don't speak out in public out of fear. They're saying that the impeachment is openly discussed.)
The lady official served as Department of Education (DepEd) secretary for two years under President Marcos, her former "UniTeam" partner.
Marcos and Romualdez are cousins.
