Mayor Vico to make Pasig a breeding ground for next generation of leaders
Mayor Vico Sotto said that his goal for Pasig City is to become a breeding ground for the next generation of leaders as the city officially launched the Junior City Officials Program on Monday, August 19.

The implementation of the Junior City Officials Program is in accordance with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Reform Act (Republic Act 10742) as part of the Youth Week celebration held every August.
Through the program, youths are given the opportunity to perform the duties of their elected or appointed leaders.
Sotto said the program will serve as an internship which the Pasigueño youth, 15 to 18 years old, can include in their resumes, highlighting their experience as junior city officials, as the program will provide them with valuable experience to help them become great leaders someday.
He added that the program is not only implemented in Pasig City but also in other local government units even if the SK Reform Act is relatively new.
He congratulated and encouraged the 16 Pasigueño youth to do their best as counterparts to the elected officials of the city during their two-day duties as junior officials.
During the pilot implementation on August 19 and 20, they will be deployed to the offices of the mayor, vice mayor, district representative (congressperson), and councilors.
Sotto stated that the results of the pilot implementation will be analyzed to identify areas for improvement. This will serve as the basis for planning in 2025 and the years to come.
He expressed hope that it would be a productive experience for the youth and that they would learn a lot from the program.
Sotto said the program gives the youth access to positions or jobs as national or local government employees.
Pasig City, he emphasized, aims to help hone the skills and knowledge of the next generation of leaders in the city, which he said the program would help achieve.
Sotto stressed that programs for the youth should not be solely about sports but should also focus on developing and enhancing their leadership skills.
He also said that the SKs in Pasig are standing up and fighting for good governance.
