Mayor Vico lauded for Pasig's nutrition program

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was recognized for his outstanding leadership in the nutrition program as the city received the 2023 Green Banner Seal of Compliance Award during the 2024 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony.

The plaque of recognition was awarded to five selected mayors in the National Capital Region (NCR) for their exemplary leadership in nutrition program management, as the mayor serves as the Chairperson of the Local Nutrition Committee in their respective local government unit.

Sotto received the plaque for Pasig City's exemplary nutrition management in 2023. The city was one of only two local governments in the NCR to receive the 2023 Green Banner Seal of Compliance.

The Seal of Compliance Award is given to local governments that achieve an overall rating of 85 percent or higher in the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and have no rating below 60 percent in the following dimensions: vision and mission, nutrition policies and laws, governance and organizational structure, local nutrition committee management functions, nutrition interventions/services, and the nutritional status of preschool and school children.

In addition, the Pasig City Nutrition Committee also received the 2024 Regional Webby Awards for Best Local Nutrition Committee Social Media Account, along with the distinction of recording the highest number of new followers on the Local Nutrition Council Facebook page across the NCR.

Since 2016, the Pasig City Nutrition Committee Facebook page has consistently been recognized in the Regional Webby Awards for being a well-managed and interactive social media account dedicated to promoting proper nutrition.

During the awarding ceremony, Ms. Ernielyn De la Cruz of Pasig City was also recognized as the 2023 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS). She is responsible for delivering essential nutrition services, particularly to families with malnourished children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.

Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Emma Ruth Cuevas, Nutrition Action Officer Jenily Capalaran, and BNS Ernielyn De la Cruz led the delegation from Pasig City and received the awards.
