Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), ordered on Wednesday, Aug. 21, a strategic deployment of policemen at the barangay level, especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged parts of the country.

Marbil said the move is aimed at ensuring that even far-flung areas, particularly those with insurgency problems, would not be left out as the PNP is focusing on reducing crime rates, combating terrorism, and addressing illegal drug activities.

“The safety of our citizens begins in the barangays. We are committed to ensuring that no community is left unguarded and that every corner of our nation feels the protective arm of the PNP,” said Marbil.

In issuing the order, Marbil directed all police commanders to revitalize the “Pulis sa Barangay” (RPSB) program, which he said, has demonstrated significant success in anti-crime efforts. 

He said the program was proven effective and must be replicated in all barangays, particularly in areas most susceptible to threats.

Based on his order, Marbil said PNP units nationwide are instructed to prioritize the strategic deployment of police officers in every barangay, focusing mainly on high-risk and vulnerable areas.

Additionally, he said mobile patrol units will conduct ongoing roving operations within their designated areas. These patrols are vital to the PNP’s rapid response capability and play a crucial role in maintaining public safety.

“Our mobile patrols will serve as the eyes and ears on the ground, always prepared to respond at a moment’s notice. No distress call will go unanswered—every Filipino must be assured that help is always within reach,” said Marbil.

The Chief PNP also called on his personnel to actively engage and collaborate with public safety volunteers within their communities, adding that the partnership is essential for expanding the PNP’s reach and building a more resilient public safety network.

“Our strength lies not just in our numbers, but in our unity with the community. Together with our public safety volunteers, we will create an unbreakable chain of security across the nation,” said Marbil.
