Called Siki it Elepante, it is located in the municipality of Corcuera in the island of Simara.
According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Managament Bureau, the rock formation in Barangay Labnig is composed of columns of light gray to whitish volcanic rocks (porphyritic andesite).
Its approximate age is 3.5 million years old and formed in the Middle Pliocene Banton Volcanics.
The DENR-MGB said this remarkable landscape, the most photographed beach in the island, was subjected to columnar jointing in the past which was later molded by crashing waves and agents of weathering to what it is now.
A netizen who has visited the area said it offers breathtaking views and great photo opportunities.
A Facebook page Siki it Elepante described it as “a perfect place where you can enjoy selfies and family get-togethers and relax and unwind with friends.”
Two congressmen have filed a bill seeking to declare Siki it Elepante a tourism site.
