Drug pusher shot dead in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A suspected drug pusher was killed in Purok Taytay Tanulo, Barangay Pilar, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental over an alleged unsettled transaction on Monday, August 19.

Police Lt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz, Hinigaran police chief, said the 46-year-old victim left his house to meet someone after receiving a text message.

The victim was shot in the back when he was about to return home on board a motorcycle at past midnight.  He was declared dead in a hospital.

Recovered from the crime scene were five spent 9mm cartridges. 

Corpuz said that the perpetrators could be the same persons the victim met.

The victim was identified as an alleged drug user at the height of “Oplan: Tokhang” and was reported to have recently returned to the town, Corpuz said.

Corpuz said the victim was also reported to have engaged in the illegal drugs trade, leading them to suspect that he may have failed to settle a payment.

Police have asked the help of the victim’s family in the investigation.
