Town pays last respects to principal who plunged to his death
BACOLOD CITY – The people, teachers, and pupils in Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental province paid their last respects on Thursday, August 1, to the principal of Guinpana-an Elementary School in the municipality who plunged to his death while preparing a classroom for the opening of classes last week.
In a Facebook live video of the school, pupils waved white flags as the convoy transporting the remains of Reynaldo Mojares passed through the town.

“Welcome home Sir Mojares,” the Facebook post caption said. “We lost an exceptional leader and colleague whose dedication, kindness, and vision profoundly impacted our school community,” the school said in a statement.
The school said that Mojares was not only an outstanding educator but also a true inspiration to all.
His commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment helped countless students thrive and succeed, the school said.
His achievements and the positive changes he brought about will forever be remembered and cherished, the school said, adding that his legacy will continue to inspire them to strive for excellence and to uphold the values he instilled in them.
As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the many lives he touched, the school said.
The municipal government mourned the death of Mojares, who they considered to be a pillar of the institution.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo sent prayers of comfort to the family of Mojares.
The 60-year-old Mojares died on July 31, three days after he slipped and fell after cleaning the roof of a classroom in preparation for the opening of classes on July 29.
Mojares had been working for 30 years and was with the school for four. He was supposed to retire in December or January.
