Nesthy Petecio beats Frenchwoman, advances to Paris quarterfinals

PARIS — Nesthy Petecio put on another dominant performance and silenced the boisterous home crowd with a 4-1 win over Amina Zidani in the 57kg class in the Paris Olympics on Friday, Aug. 2 (Saturday, Manila time) at the North Paris Arena.

Unmindful of the wild chants from the local fans, Petecio made Zidani a moving target in the second round en route to the win.

With the win, Petecio, like Carlo Paalam and Aira Villegas, advanced to the quarters.

Another win would assure the Petecio a bronze medal on Aug. 4
