House chief leads launching of Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Caravan in Tacloban
TACLOBAN CITY – House Speaker Martin Romualdez led the launching of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Caravan for Eastern Visayas at the Leyte Sports Development Center here on Friday, August 2.
"We want to see if this program is good, and if we will fund and continue this, and if this is what the people of Tacloban, Leyte, the whole region, and the whole Philippines want because what we have seen is good so far," he said.

"Maybe it will not be so difficult to allot more funds for this BPSF of our beloved President (Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.)," said Romualdez who described the anniversary of the event and first region-wide fair as historic because it was attended by over 200 lawmakers.
He thanked his colleagues for gracing the event.
Classes on all levels were suspended due to the anticipated volume of people participating in the BPSF.
City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Head Idelbrando Bernadas said Mayor Alfred Romualdez approved his recommendation for class suspension.
Major roads were closed was early as 6 a.m. while rerouting was enforced to give way to the influx of participants and guests.
House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias Gabonada Jr., one of BPSF National Secretariat leaders, said that 241 congressmen witnessed the event. “If successful, we would replicate it (in other areas of the country),” Gabonada added.
Romualdez thanked Leyte Gov. Jericho Petilla, Mayor Romualdez, and Tingog party-list for co-hosting the event.
Over 253,000 beneficiaries attended the “grandest and first region-wide implementation of the service caravan in Eastern Visayas.”
Government services worth a total of P1.2 billion were provided by 56 government agencies in different venues during the event.
