'Habagat' to bring weekend rains to western Philippines — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” may affect the western parts of the country through the weekend.
In its weekly weather outlook issued on Friday, Aug. 2, PAGASA said the habagat may cause mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan until Saturday, Aug. 3.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Sunday to Monday, Aug. 4 to 5, PAGASA said the entire archipelago will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of brief afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Tuesday to Friday, Aug. 6 to 9, PAGASA said the approach of a potential low pressure area near the northeastern boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, affecting the western sections of the country.
The intensified habagat may bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Ilocos Region, Western Visayas, Northern Island Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Benguet, Abra, northern Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country should anticipate partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with localized rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the early morning, afternoon, or evening.
