'Wa-epek yan:' PNP shrugs off writ of amprao case, says operations to arrest Quiboloy to continue
The Philippine National Police (PNP) shrugged off the filing of petition to issue a writ of amparo against the organization in relation to the ongoing operation to arrest Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy.
Unless the court rules in favor of the KOJC, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said the operation to serve the arrest warrant against Quiboloy will continue.
“That is their right to go to the proper venue and in fact, they even filed a case against the Chief PNP and other senior officers before the Ombudsman. The PNP will answer this and we will let the court decide as to who is on the right side in implementing the warrant of arrest,” said Fajardo.
“So this (case filed by KOJC) has no effect. Unless the court issues a restraining order, the arrest warrant will be implemented any time of the day because it has a lifetime effect,” she added.
The problem, however, is that despite the absence of any restraining order, the PNP finds it difficult to arrest Quiboloy despite an official declaring that they know where the religious leader has been hiding.
But the PNP official, Police Regional Office 11 director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, explained that what they are trying to prevent is the possible violence that may erupt if they raid the KOJC compound in Davao City.
Quiboloy is wanted for two serious offenses, violation of Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 20023 and Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The national government earlier offered a P10 million bounty for any information that could lead to his arrest.
