Some Cavite LGUs suspend on-site classes on Aug. 20 due to vog

CAVITE – Several municipal and city governments announced the suspension of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 20, due to volcanic smog or vog from Taal Volcano.
The local government units (LGUs) that announced the cancelation of on-site classes at all levels, public and private, include:
- Amadeo
- Alfonso
- Bacoor City
- Cavite City
- Dasmariñas City
- Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo
- Gen. Trias City
- Imus City
- Indang
- Kawit
- Magallanes
- Maragondon
- Mendez-Nuñez
- Naic
- Noveleta
- Rosario
- Silang
- Tanza
- Trece Martires City
Some of the LGUs directed schools to shift to alternative modes of learning amid the vog.
The Department of Health, meanwhile, warned that sulfur dioxide, found in vog, can cause throat irritation, difficulty in breathing, and chest discomfort.
Residents in vog-affected areas are advised to stay indoors and close doors and windows to limit exposure to harmful pollutants, wear facemasks outside, and stay hydrated.
