City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto led the ceremony at the Quezon Memorial Circle which started with a wreath-laying in front of Quezon’s statue.
“Maraming salamat sa hindi malilimutang katapatan, paninindigan, at pagmamahal sa ating bansa! (Thank you for your unforgettable loyalty, steadfastness, and love for our country!),” Belmonte said in a Facebook post.
“Nawa'y maging inspirasyon si Ginoong Quezon sa bawat isa upang tayo'y maging tapat sa tungkulin natin bilang Pilipino, at bilang lingkod bayan (May Mr. Quezon inspire each of us to be faithful to our duties as Filipinos and as public servants),” the mayor added.
The city government said that “Quezon Day” is recognized as a special working holiday throughout the Philippines and a special non-working public holiday in the provinces of Quezon and Aurora, as well as in Quezon City, as established by Republic Act No. 6741, enacted in 1989.
“Nawa’y ang kanyang diwa ng paglilingkod at pagmamahal sa bayan ay patuloy na magbigay inspirasyon sa kasalukuyan at sa mga darating pang henerasyon (May his spirit of service and love for the country continue to inspire the present and future generations),” the city government also said in a Facebook post.
