Pack of shabu found floating in Cagayan


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A pack of shabu was found floating on the sea of Pamplona, this province, on Saturday, August 17.

Police Master Sgt. Amado Rivera Jr., Aparri police station chief, said on Monday, August 19, that a fisherman from Barangay Bisagu, Aparri, this province, recovered the item with Chinese markings.

The fisherman, who thought the package was a pack of noodles, opened it and found crystalline substance.

He reported his discovery to the barangay chairman. Police received the item which was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 2 for examination.

Testing confirmed the contraband as shabu which weighed one kilogram and valued at P6.8 million.

Meanwhile, two fishermen from Candon City, Ilocos Sur recovered a pack of suspected shabu with Chinese markings on the shoreline of Barangay Caterman, Candon City on Saturday.

The item was forwarded to the Ilocos Sur police provincial forensic unit for examination.

Police confirmed that the item was shabu weighing 885.93 grams worth P6,024,324.

Evangelista commended the two fishermen for immediately reporting their discovery.

He reiterated his call on residents especially those living in coastal areas to be always on alert and fully cooperate with authorities in the campaign against illegal drugs.
