President Marcos called on agencies and local government units (LGUs) to expand livelihood-related services to reach more Filipinos around the country.

Speaking at the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) Agency Summit 2024, Marcos directed the national and local governments to collaborate to bring more livelihood opportunities  to Filipinos.

"Ngunit hindi pa rin dito natatapos ang trabaho natin, hinihiling ko sa lahat na ang ating iba't ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan kasama lalo na ang local government unit  na patuloy pa nating pagbutihin, pabilisin at palawakin ang mga serbisyo upang maabot natin ang lahat ng ating mga kababayan nasaan man sila naroon (But the work does not end here, I call on all our different agencies and local government units to continue improving and expanding the services to reach all our countrymen wherever they are)," Marcos said in his speech at the event held on Monday night, Aug. 19.

The President also urged the agencies and LGUs to utilize technology in this endeavor. He likewise tasked them to get more Filipinos to avail of the government's livelihood assistance programs.

"Gamitin natin nang lubos ang teknolohiya upang lalo pang mailapit sa mga Pilipino ang pamahalaan (Let us utilize technology in order to bring the government closer to the Filipino people)," Marcos said.

"Hikayatin din natin ang ating mga mamamayan na sumali dito sa serbisyo fair at gamitin ang pagkakataon na mapabuti ang kanilang paghahanap buhay at ang kanilang pagtulong sa kanilang sarili at sa kanilang pamilya (Let us encourage the people to participate in this service fair and take advantage on the opportunity to better their livelihood and to help themselves and their families)," Marcos added.

During the event, the Chief Executive also announced that more Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Centers will be established around the country, considering its role in improving the livelihood of ordinary Filipinos.  

"Bukod sa mga napuntahan na, sasadyain pa natin ang 61 probinsya sa bansa at dahil nakita na natin ang kahalagahan ng programang ito, layunin din natin magtayo ng Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Center sa ilang mga lalawigan para sa tuloy tuloy na pagproseso ng mga pangangailangan ng ating mga residente (Aside from the areas that we have reached, we will also go to the 61 provinces in the country and because we saw the program's importance, we aim to put in place Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Centers in other provinces for the continued processing of assistance for the residents)," he said.

The BPSF is the country’s largest government service caravan held in 21 provinces nationwide within a single year.

During the summit held in Pasay City, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) grant was turned over to beneficiaries who have successfully transitioned from recipients to entrepreneurs and business partners under the Start-up, Investment, Business Opportunity and Livelihood (SIBOL) Program.

The event also honored the 21 pioneering hosts of the inaugural BPSF who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment.
