Edgardo Lasco Sr. died on Saturday, August 17, while being treated at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Medical Center in Tagbilaran.
Lasco sustained burns after attempting to save his children from their house that caught fire on August 14.
His three-year-old daughter Jessabel and one-year-old son Edgardo Jr. were asleep when the fire broke out. Their father failed to save them as the flames quickly spread.
The fire hit two other houses before it was put out.
Police Lt. Col. John Kreen Escober, chief of the Tagbilaran City police station, said the cause of the fire was undetermined as Lasco failed to talk to investigators due to his severe injuries.
It didn’t take long for the house burn down as it was made of light materials, police said.
Police said Lasco’s wife who was working in Manila arrived on Saturday.
