LRT-2 operations resume after catenary cable repair

Operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) resumed on Tuesday morning, Aug. 20, after a temporary suspension due to necessary repairs on the catenary cable between Katipunan and Santolan Stations.

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said that as of 7 a.m., all trains and stations from Recto to Antipolo and vice versa are operational.

“Balik na sa full line operations ang LRT-Line 2 matapos maisagawa ang repair ng nasirang catenary. Ang mga biyahe ng tren ay mula istasyon ng Antipolo hanggang Recto at pabalik (LRT-Line 2 is back to full operation after the repair of the damaged catenary. Trains are now running between Antipolo and Recto, and return),” the LRTA tweeted.

The LRTA had earlier halted its operations due to repairs on damaged catenaries between two stations.

“Pansamantalang nagpapatupad ng provisionary service ang LRT-2 dahil sa nasirang catenary sa pagitan ng Katipunan at Santolan station. Ang biyahe ng tren ay mula Recto station hanggang Cubao station at pabalik (The LRT-2 was offering provisional service due to the damaged catenary between Katipunan and Santolan. Trains were operating between Recto and Cubao and back),” the LRTA said.
