The director also gave financial assistance to the boy's family for his hospitalization and other medical needs.
According to Maraggun, the victim, identified as "Archie," was seen by CCTV walking on his way home when a woman waiting on the same street suddenly stabbed the child multiple times on his back. As the victim collapsed from his injuries, the suspect stabbed the helpless boy one more time.
She then called the attention of other people and acted as if she found the boy already injured as she made her escape.
Archie miraculously survived the attack and was immediately brought to the Rizal Provincial Hospital System in Taytay where he is now recuperating from his injuries.
When the authorities reviewed the CCTV footage, they positively identified the suspect which led to her arrest. Police recovered from her the folding knife she used in the stabbing.
In a television interview, the suspect revealed that she committed the crime out of jealousy as she was abandoned by her parents when she was a child.
Maraggun also said that the woman allegedly suffers from a mental illness and kept on changing her statements during her interview with the investigator.
The suspect is now facing a frustrated murder charge.
