
Olympian Carlos Yulo who won two gold medals for the country in the recent Paris Olympics received a P2 million check from the Manila local government on Monday, August 19.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan along with Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto presented the check to Yulo.

The local chief executive also signed the Manila City Council ordinance declaring August 4 of every year as “Araw ni Carlos Yulo” in the country’s capital.

"The special day is not a holiday, but a time to commemorate the day he won his first Olympic medal in Paris," the mayor explained.

“Araw ni Carlos Yulo will be a yearly occasion to take stock of progress made in the Manila’s and the Philippines’ continuing quest to produce more Olympians and win more Olympic medals,” she added.
Yulo said he is aiming for a podium finish in the men’s gymnastics all-around event.
He placed 12th in the all-around in Paris and is expected to defend his Olympic titles in the floor exercise and vault events.
Yulo and Gymnastics Association of the Philippines President Cynthia Carrion have stressed their goals to send a men’s team and a women’s team to the next Olympics in Los Angeles.
