13 trucks with pigs, processed meat from Quezon Province, Camarines Sur undergo ASF inspection in QC

Thirteen trucks carrying live pigs, live chickens, processed meat, and slaughtered pigs were inspected for African Swine Fever (ASF) on Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City, on Monday, August 19.

According to a radio report, the Quezon City Veterinary Department, in coordination with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and Quezon City Police District (QCPD), intensified the inspection against ASF for pigs entering the city.
Of the total number of pigs, 42 came from Mulanay, Quezon province, which were temporarily held by the City Veterinary Department personnel.
The pigs were on their way to a slaughterhouse in Novaliches, Quezon City when intercepted by the city authorities.
After a thorough review of their travel documents and permits, the pigs were cleared to pass through the checkpoint.
Similarly, 110 pigs from Camarines Sur being transported to Pangasinan, underwent inspection and were allowed to proceed after their permit was verified.
In addition to the inspections, the trucks were disinfected before being allowed to continue their trip.
Last week, 147 pigs from Sariaya, Quezon province, were held by the City Veterinary Department after testing positive for ASF.
