PAGASA: Partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers across most of the Philippines
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Aug. 18 that most of the country is expected to experience fair weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies and the absence of significant weather disturbances.
PAGASA Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda said the low pressure area (LPA) near extreme northern Luzon has already left the country’s area of responsibility and had no effect on any part of the country.
In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said the entire country, except for Batanes and Babuyan Islands, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned that flash floods or landslides could occur during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Batanes and Babuyan Islands will likely have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon (habagat).
Both areas are also at risk of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy monsoon rains.
Castañeda said PAGASA has not monitored any other LPAs or tropical cyclones near or inside the country’s area of responsibility as of Sunday.
