CAVITE—Several local government units (LGUs) announced the suspension of classes on Monday, Aug. 19, due to volcanic smog or vog from Taal Volcano.

Classes in all levels, public and private, are canceled in the following areas:

  • Alfonso
  • Amadeo
  • Bacoor City (effective 12:00 p.m.)
  • Carmona City
  • Dasmariñas City
  • Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo
  • Gen. Mariano Alvarez
  • General Trias (effective 10:00 a.m.)
  • Indang
  • Magallanes
  • Maragondon
  • Mendez-Nuñez
  • Silang
  • Trece Martires (effective 12:00 p.m.)

Some of the LGUs directed a shift to modular learning amid the suspension of face-to-face classes.

The Office of the Provincial Health Officer, meanwhile, warned residents against the effect of sulfur dioxide found in vog. The office reminded Caviteños to stay indoors as much as possible and wear face masks when heading outside.
