TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Four fishermen were rescued after their boat sank in the sea of Santa Ana, Cagayan and Babuyan Claro in Calayan Island, Cagayan on Friday, August 16.

Joe Robert Arirao of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Calayan said seawater started flooding the boat of Norman Baloloy, 35; Uel Tomas, 36; Reden Dican, 28, and Jonel Nolasco, 34, residents of Babuyan Claro, shortly after leaving Santa Ana.
Their boat, MB Mahoto, drifted for several hours. They were able to call for help upon reaching an area with phone signal.
Rescuers were deployed and found them in the sea near Barangay Minabel in good condition.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
