The local government of Quezon City announced on Saturday, Aug. 17, that it will conduct a "hybrid public consultation" on the plan to make Tomas Morato Avenue "carless" every Sunday.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the LGU said Councilor Irene Belmonte proposed to make the avenue "car-free" or "carless."
The proposed ordinance titled "Carless Day and Market Day" seeks to regulate the use of the entire stretch of Tomas Morato Avenue (from E. Rodriguez to Sct. Albano) by closing the street to vehicular traffic every Sunday from 12 midnight to 11:59 p.m., with penalties for non-compliance.
According to the city government, the consultation will take place on Aug. 21 at the South Triangle Covered Court and on Aug. 24 at the Obrero Old Barangay Hall.
"Bukas ito sa publiko upang maibahagi ang inyong komento at rekomendasyon (This is open to the public to share your comments and recommendations)," the city government said.
