Pilipino Tayo Movement holds public consultation in Manila

The Pilipino Tayo Movement (PTM) conducted a public consultation forum with local community leaders from Manila's 6th District on Friday, August 17, marking another milestone in the movement's efforts to engage with grassroots leaders across the country.

Led by Chairman Greco Belgica, the forum follows the successful launch of PTM in the Cordillera Region.

The forum was met with enthusiasm by barangay leaders in Manila.

The event aimed to discuss critical issues, including corruption within local communities and the role of constitutional reforms in addressing the challenges.

PTM convenor and former Senator Gringo Honasan led the discussion on corruption, providing insights on how it can be prevented through constitutional reforms.

Honasan emphasized the importance of systemic changes to ensure transparency and accountability at all levels of government.

Bishop Butch Belgica also took the stage, highlighting the need to limit the powers of the national government to empower local government units (LGUs).

According to Bishop Belgica, granting more economic freedom to LGUs would foster sustainable development and self-reliance within communities.

Chairman Greco Belgica delivered a detailed presentation advocating for a constitutional convention in the Philippines.

Belgica, who previously served as a City Councilor in Manila before being appointed by President Duterte as the Chairman of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, discussed the potential benefits of constitutional reforms in achieving lasting governance improvements.

The forum concluded with the local barangays of Manila's 6th District reaffirming their support for Belgica’s agenda, underscoring the growing momentum of the Pilipino Tayo Movement as it continues to expand its reach across the nation.
