PAGASA monitors LPA; 'habagat' to affect Northern Luzon
A Low Pressure Area (LPA) has been spotted inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is currently being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its weather update, PAGASA said that as of 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, the LPA was located 375 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon (habagat) would affect extreme Northern Luzon.
In Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected due to the “habagat.”
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
