The comeback kings have returned to their old selves and are making waves in the MPL Philippines Season 14.

Smart Omega pulled off a huge come-from-behind win in the deciding Game 3 to cap a stunning upset of M5 World Champion Falcons AP.Bren, 2-1 and seize the early lead in the standings on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Omega trailed by as many as 18-7 in kill score and 10.3k gold in the economy before it managed to somehow turn things around at the 18th minute mark of the contest, scoring a four-man wipe of FCAP while defending a third Lord siege.

The double-tank setup from Omega worked wonders in their solid high ground defense as Nowee “Ryota” Macasa on the Hylos and Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog on the Khufra provided the sustain allowing their carries to safely dish out the damage from the distance.

That was particularly highlighted in the base defense when FCAP tried to pick off Ryota’s Hylos during their base siege but failed after he proved to be too tanky to get taken down. In retaliation, Jomari “Jowm” Pingo on the Harith and Andrew “Andoryuu” Flora on the Nolan hunted down the members of FCAP.

Two teams then went back and forth from there before Omega won a skirmish that allowed them to secure the Lord and close out the deciding Game of the series with a 24-21 win.

Andoryuu dazzled with a 13-4-6 line while Jowm also shone with a 9-4-9 KDA as Omega did not waste its 16-12 Game 1 win over FCAP. A champion that AP.Bren is it retaliated with a 11-11 win in Game 2 to force the decider.

Over at the other games, Fanatic Onic Philippines kept TNC Pro Team winless with a 2-0 sweep while Team Liquid PH overcame a first game hiccup to turn back RSG Philippines, 2-1 for its own winning start to the season.

It was a masterful win for FNOP which rode the stellar showing from King “K1NGKONG” Perez who unloaded a 3-0-4 and 3-1-4 lines on the Nolan and Hayabusa picks in the two-game sweep.

A familiar backdoor play from Benedict “BennyQT” Gonzales proved to be the saving grace for TLPH which equalized the series with a 9-3 win after having to shake off the jitters in the series opening 13-9 loss to RSG.

Riding the momentum, BennyQt showed no letup in the decider as he exploded for a perfect 7-0-3 line in the 15-3 Game 3 win.
