House Deputy Speaker Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar can't help but be impressed by the state of affairs in Iligan City, which recently welcomed her on the occasion of its State of Iligan City Address (SOICA).
Villar, who was the guest speaker during the SOICA, highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability, and said that they were essential in public service.
She noted that these must emanate from officials of local government units (LGUs), such as the case with Iligan.
“The SOICA address is an important checkpoint for this city, and I am especially impressed and heartened that the Iligan City government and Iliganons review progress with special emphasis on good governance and transparency,” she said.
“I commend the vigorous efforts that led to real results to ensure good and responsive governance, one that champions agriculture, ensures basic necessities, combats corruption, and embraces progressive ideals such as gender awareness and development, and that’s only to name a few,” Villar said.
Villar said the city government’s report on the affairs of Iliigan City was “an important facet of local culture".
"It is in gatherings like these that strengthen our bonds as a community and reinforce our sense of pride, identity, and civic duty,” said the Nacionalista Party (NP) stalwart.
“All of you would do well to remember this and continue to build on a culture of transparency and unity,” she added.
The House deputy speaker likewise hailed the efforts of the city leadership for its “remarkable progress in walking the path towards the shared vision that all Iliganons have for an even more prosperous lligan City".
