Rape suspect nabbed in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna â€“ Police arrested a 24-year-old man wanted for rape in Barangay Cansuso, Cavinti, Laguna on Friday morning, August 16.

The suspect was identified as Jomel, tagged as the most wanted person on the regional level in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area.

Jomel was arrested on a warrant issued by the Santa Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 6 dated August 13, 2024 for statutory rape and with no bail recommended.

The suspect allegedly raped a minor on May 18, 2024 in Barangay Cansuso.

The victim said Jomel grabbed her hair, covered her mouth, threatened her with a knife, tied her hands and feet with a plastic straw, and raped her.

The victim mustered courage and reported her ordeal to the police four days later on May 22.

Police Regional Office 4-A chief Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas cited operating units for their accomplishment and assured the people of a no-nonsense campaign against crime and wanted persons.

The suspect is detained at the Cavinti police station.
