Pateros Administrator German to run for mayor with support from incumbent Ponce

Municipal Administrator and former vice mayor Gerald German will be running for mayor of Pateros in the May 12, 2025 local election. 

German will aim to succeed Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III who is on his third and final term as the local chief executive. 

Ponce is supporting German’s candidacy and has opted not to run for any position in next year’s election. He is considering to go back to his private law practice. 

“I am against political dynasty and i don’t want that practice in Pateros. So many people were pushing me to run for vice mayor but I want to give chance to others,” he told Manila Bulletin.

German was elected vice mayor of Pateros for three consecutive terms and served from 2013 to 2022. He is currently the municipal administrator. 

He said he wants to continue the programs and projects of Ponce. 

“The continuity of the programs and projects of incumbent Mayor Ponce, yun yung No. 1 na gusto nating gawin dito sa Pateros kasi naniniwala tayo na sa mga nagdaang administrasyon, si Mayor Ponce ang isa sa pinakamahusay, pinakamagaling na punong bayan namin dito sa Pateros (The continuity of the programs and projects of incumbent Mayor Ponce, that is the No. 1 that we want to do here in Pateros because I believe that in the past administrations, Mayor Ponce is one of the best mayors we have here in Pateros),” he said. 

He added, “And I would like to continue his legacy dito sa Pateros: Nagbibigay ng de kalidad at maayos na serbisyo sa tao sa lahat ng aspeto. Sa edukasyon, kalusugan, sa peace and order, kalinisan, at sa marami pang aspeto ng governance (And I would like to continue his legacy here in Pateros: Providing quality and good services to people in all aspects. In education, health, peace and order, cleanliness and in many aspects of governance).” 

“Gusto kong ipagpatuloy yung tinatawag kong good governance (I want to continue what I call good governance),’ said German.
