Mom, son apprehended for drug peddling

CEBU CITY – A mother and son were arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs in Barangay Buhisan here.

Scifi Castaño, 29, and his 47-year-old mother Jade were nabbed in a buy-bust operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas on Thursday night, August 15.

The operation was conducted with operatives of the Parian Police Station and Joint Task Group Cebu 3rd ID Philippine Army Striker.

Recovered from the suspects were seven sachets of suspected shabu worth P81,600, said Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7.

Alcantara said they conducted a three-week case build-up before the operation materialized.

The suspects were capable of selling 10 to 25 grams of shabu a week, said Alcantara.

Alcantara said Scifi was the target of the operation after his name was included in the PDEA-7’s list of suspected drug pushers.
