Paris Olympian Jarod Hatch and young guns Jamesray Ajido and Jasmine Mojdeh topped their respective events on the second day of the Philippine Aquatics, Inc. National Trials Friday, Aug. 16, at the Teofilo Yldefonso pool inside Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila.

Hatch won the gold medal in the men's 50-meter freestyle event after clocking 23.86 seconds to beat Charles Bellotti (24.06) and Jennuel De Leon (24.29).
The 26-year-old Hatch, who fell short in the 100m butterfly semifinal in the French capital, only joined in one event but still opens his door for the SEA Games next year.
“Yeah, one step at a time. As long as I'm taking care of myself, as long as I'm happy, as long as I'm able to give the sport what it deserves,” said Hatch. “And repaying what it's done for me over the years, the door is definitely open for that.”
Ajido, as expected, went brilliant by breaking the 100m fly and tying 50m free records, timing in 56.25sec and 24.64sec, respectively, to take his fourth medal in the event being used as selection for members of the national pool and backed by Speedo, Pocari Sweat, and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
“Medyo nagulat ako sa performance ko kasi kumpara po kahapon, pakiramdam ko wala ako sa kondisyon today,” said Ajido, a gold medal winner in the Asia Age Group Swimming Championship in New Clark City last February.
“Siguro po excited ako sa opening day kaya di ko na-break yung QTS sa dalawang event ko,” he added.
On the other hand, Mojdeh hit the Qualifying Time Standard (QTS) of two minutes and 40.27 seconds to reign supreme in the girls 16-18 200m breaststroke. She outdueled Reiko Uy (2:47.50) and Sealtiel Daiz 92:48.45).
Jasmine’s sister, Behrouz, also shone in her events, topping 11-13 age group events of 400m free and 200m breast.
