Fire hits portion of Metropolitan Hospital in Sta. Cruz

A fire hit the seventh floor of Metropolitan Medical Center at Masangkay Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Saturday, August 17.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was raised to first alarm at 1:56 a.m. and was immediately put to second alarm at 1:56 a.m.

Firefighters said the fire quickly spread to the entire seventh floor which was an office area.

It took them an hour to declare the fire under control and another hour to put it out.

Several patients were safely evacuated from the wards. They were allowed to return to their wards after the BFP conducted mopping operation.

BFP reported that no one was injured in the incident.

Arson investigators said that they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
