Bacolod Mayor Albee cites brother's appointment to TESDA


BACOLOD CITY –  Mayor Albee Benitez here lauded the appointment of younger brother Negros Occidental Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez as director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

“This appointment serves as a recognition of your diligence and dedication to public service,” Mayor Benitez said.

Victorias City, Negros Occidental Mayor Javi Benitez congratulated his uncle for his appointment. 

“With the Philippines expected to have the youngest population in Asia, your leadership is crucial in turning this demographic strength into a future-ready nation,” he said.

The younger Benitez said that his uncle’s plans of upskilling Filipinos in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, and other emerging technologies give them confidence that the youth are going to be well-prepared to navigate a rapidly evolving world. 

“We, in Victorias City, are incredibly proud of you and commend President Marcos for his excellent choice,” he added.

Rep. Benitez, who is in second term as congressman, assured that he will always serve the people of the province following his appointment.

“To my beloved people of third district, I may be moving to another role but we will not leave you behind. I will remain always to be at your service,” said Benitez who is on his second term when he was appointed.

Benitez, an educator, thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for entrusting him with this important portfolio.  “It is my honor to serve the country as TESDA director general,” he said, adding that his new role is A full circle moment for him.
